  • 1. Lug: These are projections on the watch case that secure the strap or watch bracelet to the case.
  • 2. Crown: This is a knob on the outside of a watch case that sets the calendar and time. It also winds the watch.
  • 3. Dial: Also known as the watch face, the dial is the portion of the watch that displays the time. It can come in several different colors and marker combinations.
  • 4. Hour hand: The hour hand is the marker on the dial that indicates the hour time.
  • 5. Minute hand: This hand is the marker on the dial that indicates the minute time.
  • 6. Second hand: This hand is the marker on the dial that indicates the second time.
  • 7. Bezel: The bezel (usually for diver watch) goes around the crystal of a watch are usually made of metal or ceramic.
  • 8. Crystal: This is the transparent cover on the top of the dial or face. This is designed to protect the watch from dirt and water and reduce glare. POUYING watches usually use sapphire crystal.
  • 9. Case: The case is the part of the watch that contains the movement and dial. This protects them from normal wear and tear as well as the elements. They come in several different shapes and materials.
Automatic mechanical watch (three hands, push/pull crown)

Winding

An automatic watch uses a heavy hammer or similar structure (automatic rotor) set in the movement to drive the automatic rotor onto the chain by hand movement. When you get a new watch, the watch usually does not work because the power has been completely released and has not been wound enough yet.

So when we get the watch, we first need to wind and set the watch. There are two ways to wind, one is to self-winding, and the other is hand-winding.

1. Self-Winding

Automatic mechanical watches generally need to be worn for 8 hours to be fully wound. If the watch stops working because there is no power, you only need to hold the watch in your hand and shake it against the surface for a while to automatically wind the watch.

1. Hand-winding

All Pouying automatic mechanical watches have the manual-winding function. Pull out the crown to the first level and turn the crown clockwise to manually wind the watch. When rotating, we will feel a slight and uniform winding resistance, and hear a small rustling sound. Generally, the watch can be fully wound after 20 to 30 spins.

Attention:
  • When winding, turn the crown gently clockwise as much as possible, and try to keep it within 30 spins. Don't overdo it, so as not to break the fine parts in the movement.
  • You can make the watch be fully wound when you wear it in the daytime, and the power is enough to put it at night. If you have little activity during the day or don’t wear it for a long time, it is recommended to use a watch shaker. It is best not to manually wind the automatic mechanical watch frequently.

Adjust the Time

Attention:
  • The crown must be rotated clockwise to avoid damage to the movement.
  • If you require the time to be quite precise, the stop-second function of the movement allows us to set the precise time. The method is: firstly, move the second hand to the 12 o'clock position. Secondly, pull out the crown to the second level to adjust the time position. At this time, the second hand is not stationary. Turn the crown clockwise to adjust the position of the hour and minute hands. When the hands are consistent with the standard time, push the crown back to its original position in time.
  • If you accidentally adjust the time of the watch too much, continue to adjust it forward at this time until the watch hands reach the correct position. Please do not adjust it in an anticlockwise direction.

Reposition

Push the crown into its original position.

Automatic mechanical watch (three hands, screw-down crown)

To wind and adjust time are the same as automatic mechanical watches with three-handed push/pull crowns. The difference is that before hand-winding and time adjustment, the screw-down crown needs to be unscrewed. After the adjustment is completed, the crown needs to be screwed in to reposition.

1. Rotate about three times in the counterclockwise direction, the crown will be naturally ejected to the first level by the built-in spring, and then turn clockwise to wind it manually.

2. Pull out the crown to the second level (for some watches, you may have to pull out to the third level) can adjust the time clockwise.

3. When screwing in, first push the crown into the first level, and gently press the crown while slowly turning the crown clockwise by half a turn. After you feel the crown and the watch teeth bite, push the crown slightly and screw in to make it tighten.

Automatic mechanical watch (three hands with calendar, screw-down crown)

To wind and adjust time are the same as automatic mechanical watches with three-handed push/pull crowns. The difference is that before hand-winding and time adjustment, the screw-down crown needs to be unscrewed. After the adjustment is completed, the crown needs to be screwed in to reposition.

And for the second level of the crown is to adjust the calendar, the third level of the crown is to adjust the time.

Adjust Calendar

Unscrew the crown counterclockwise and pull out the crown to the second level. Turn it counterclockwise to adjust the calendar.

POUYING WATCH USER MANUAL
Attention:
  • Do not adjust the calendar between 21:00 PM - 3:00 AM time of the watch. During this period, the calendar function is working and the gear mesh is low. Frequent movements can damage the internal parts of the watch. Adjust the hour hand to between 3 o'clock and 8 o'clock (usually at five or six o'clock), and then adjust the calendar by turning the crown.
  • Pouying Watches uses the 12 o'clock movements. The hour hand rotates two cycles as a day, and the calendar corresponding jumps by one. Therefore, we can easily get confused that the hour hand corresponding to the date represents morning or afternoon when adjusting the calendar. If the corresponding time and date are wrong, it will cause the calendar to jump around noon (12:00 PM) instead of the normal 0:00 AM.
  • To avoid this situation, there is a little trick: firstly, adjust the time to 3 o'clock - 8 o'clock. Secondly, adjust the calendar to the day before the current date. Thirdly, adjust the time to make the calendar jump to the current date. Finally, adjust the time to the current time.
Precautions for the use of mechanical watches
  • 1. When adjusting the calendar, day of the week, and moon phases, do not operate the watch between 21:00 PM and 3:00 AM. During this period, the calendar function is in operation and the gear meshing degree is low. The frequent actions will cause damage to internal parts of the watch.
  • 2. Do not pull the screw-down crown while it is locked. Please turn it counterclockwise to open the crown. Push it in and turn the crown clockwise to lock it after the time is adjusted.
  • 3. The crown is not waterproof when doing hand-winding, adjusting the time, adjusting the calendar, so the crown must be put back after adjustment.
  • 4. Watches with calendars need to adjust the date. Please adjust the calendar to the day before the date you need, and then turn the hour hand to adjust the date. The date will change when the hour hand passes midnight. Thus to avoid the confusion of day and night caused by direct adjustment of the date.
  • 5. When adjusting the time, date, and day of the week, be sure to turn the crown by clockwise direction, not counterclockwise, to avoid damage to the movement. To continue to adjust forward until the cycle reaches the correct position if you accidentally adjust too much the time or date of the watch. Do not adjust backward.
  • 6. Avoid strong shocks. The movement of a mechanical watch is very precise. It may cause internal parts to loosen, damage, or time problems if it is hit or beaten. It is best to remove the watch when strenuous exercise is required.
  • 7. Keep away from water vapor. Diving watches have good waterproof performance, but all diving watches are not resistant to water vapor. Please do not wear a watch to take a hot bath or hot spring to prevent water vapor from entering the watch.

  • 8. Keep away from strong magnetic field environment and objects. Do not place the watch next to products with strong magnetic fields such as stereos, TVs, induction cookers, etc., to avoid magnetization that may cause the watch to malfunction.
  • 9. Stay away from camphor substances. Because camphor has the function of decomposing grease, it is easy to cause the grease of the watch mechanism to be decomposed, thereby causing the watch to malfunction.
  • 10. Do not open the back cover arbitrarily. When the back cover is opened in a sharp environment, dust will enter the movement, which will affect the normal operation of the watch. Watches that have been opened are also prone to degradation of the waterproof performance. To open the back cover requires professional tools, personnel, and a special environment.
  • 11. Regular Winding. If the watch is left unused for a long time, it needs to be wound regularly every month to prevent the parts from being in a static state for a long time to ensure the running performance of the watch.
  • 12. Regular maintenance. Mechanical watches rely on gear transmission, and bearings need lubricating oil to reduce damage caused by friction. Under normal circumstances, the lubricating oil evaporates with use and temperature changes, and it is nearly exhausted every day, so regular maintenance for mechanical watches is required every 3-4 years.
  • 13. Simple handling method of damp. If water vapor enters the watch due to careless use and operation, you can press dry cotton on the watch case first, and bake it under a 40-watt light bulb for five minutes. Repeat the operation 2 - 3 times to make the moisture in the watch evaporates, then send it to a professional repair shop for repair to avoid damage to the movement parts caused by water vapor.
