What Is a Diving Watch?

The original meaning refers to the timepiece used for diving, which is loved by watch players because of its sturdy and durable performance, individual appearance design, and complex appearance.

In order to meet the diving environment, in addition to excellent waterproof performance, diving watches also have the following two distinctive features:

Luminous Watch

As the basis for underwater reading, all diving watches will be equipped with eye-catching luminous hands and scales. Usually the pointer, scale or surface of the diving watch are coated with fluorescent materials, and the size of the pointer and scale is deliberately enlarged to make it easier for divers to read.

The early luminous material was radium, which was discontinued because it contained excessive radioactive elements. Now the most commonly used luminous material is Super-LumiNova, which absorbs the gamma particles in the light to store light and can last for more than 10 hours.

Uni-directional Bezel

Because the general diving oxygen tank can only last for 45 minutes, divers will strictly observe a 15-minute safety stop when ascending for diving decompression.

Usually, just turn the bezel during diving, make the 0 scale on the bezel align with the minute hand, and then look at the scale on the bezel after the minute hand moves to know the diving time. The rotation of the bezel is mostly designed in a single counterclockwise direction. This is to ensure that the calculation time is only large, not small, and to prevent delays and dangers.
